Roanoke Rapids Athletic Programs PDF Print E-mail

BaseballThe Roanoke Rapids Parks and Recreation Department runs youth basketball and flag football leagues. Other youth sports such as baseball, softball, soccer, and tackle football are run by volunteer organizations in Roanoke Rapids.

Registration for all youth basketball and flag football is held at T. J. Davis Recreation Center. A copy of the child's birth certificate is required to register for any youth sport.

The Roanoke Rapids Parks and Recreation Department also runs adult Basketball and Softball. For more information call 533-2847.

Annual Special Events PDF Print E-mail

Easter Egg Hunt
Held the Saturday before Easter at T. J. Davis and Chaloner Recreation Centers. Activities usually begin at 9AM. Children are divided into three age groups, infant - 4, 5 - 7, and 8 - 12. Prizes are awarded for each age group. Entertainment or activities are held afterwards.

Tri-Roanoke Valley Sprint Triathlon
April event. Beginning at 8am at T.J. Davis Recreation Center
Events include: 300 Meter Swim, 14.8 Mile bike, and 3.1 Mile Run

Roanoke Rapids City ParkC. W. Davis Park - Cedar Street
This area is a .86 acre open space park across Cedar Street from Melody Park.

Edward George Park - Virginia Avenue
This is a 1.25 acre playground donated to the City of Roanoke Rapids by the George family. It has a swing set, sliding board, jungle gym, and benches.

Martin Luther King Park - Wyche Street And Virginia Avenue
This 2.95 acre park has the Hodgestown Day Care Center leased by the City to the Community Development Corporation of Halifax and Warren Counties. The East Side of the Park has equipment including a swing set, slide, whirl, sheltered picnic table, and spring animals. The West Side of the park has benches and sidewalks.
