MISSION STATEMENT:

Our mission is to provide resources and information services for educational, recreational and cultural growth to the citizens of the Roanoke Valley in a Patron friendly atmosphere.

The Roanoke Rapids Public Library is supported by City taxpayers, The Friends of the Library, and private donations. Everyone is welcome to use the Library, but a library card is required to check out material.

These services are provided without regard to race, religion, age, education level or economic status.

LIBRARY ADVISORY COMMITTEE

A nine member Library Advisory Committee renders advice and counsel to the Library Director concerning the operation of the Library with the objective of insuring that quality library services are provided to the residents of Roanoke Rapids.  Read More

HISTORY:

Our Library was founded in 1933 by the Roanoke Rapids Women's Club with donated books and a volunteer staff. In 1938 the Club presented the Library to the City of Roanoke Rapids. A few years later, the National Guard Amory became the new home of the Library.  Read More

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY

The Friends of the Roanoke Rapids Public Library was organized in 1962 to help raise funds to build, furnish, equip, and maintain the current facility we enjoy today.

Meeting monthly, The Friends of the Library support and represent the Library in the community. We urge city, county and state governments to continue to increase their support for libraries. We also recruit and coordinate volunteers for all kinds of jobs that the Library needs done. Read More
